"CHASE PROJECT" (16mm, silent, 4 mins. ©2004 w. Joe Moore)
Our assignment was to create a short film with a chase sequence. I decided to make my chase film about chocolate milk! This was my first time shooting and editing on 16mm film. It was a great (but time consuming) experience. My partner and I edited the reversal and skipped the negative cutting because this was only an experiment. That's why the film is so scratched. Also, we transferred it to mini-DV by filming the flatbed screen, so it looks like a bad bootleg. My partner on the project, Joe Moore, plays the jogger. Ben Daniels plays the chocolate milkman. The sound you are hearing is people working in the edit suite as we tape the flatbed screen. This is meant to be a silent film. High-Res QuickTime coming soon.

"METAPHOR PROJECT" (16mm, sound, 3 mins. ©2004 w. Joe Moore)
Our assignment was to construct a visual metaphor. My partner Joe Moore and I decided to use secluded environments to represent how someone feels. In the case of our film, being lost and trapped on the island stood for how the letter the man is reading makes him feel. Also, with the break of the 180 ◦ rule, we see the two sides of the man's face dueling back and forth with the photograph as a bridge between the two images. It represents feeling two different emotions such as love and hate at the same time and how confusing that can be. At the end, the film and audio tracks give up, just like the man. With Joe Moore as the Man. Note: We shot with Bolex 16mm camera, edited on Steenbeck flatbeds and then transferred it to mini-DV by filming the flatbed screen! Also, the quality of the streaming video is rather poor. Quick-Time coming soon!
